Digital Painting

The Bone Flower Series

I have always been captivated by the  staggering array of biological diversity, constantly on display in nature. From the delicate, intricate beauty of flowers, to the severe, utilitarian structures found in bones and shells, this series explores many of the shapes and textures their combinations produce.

Many of these images started out as digital models to act as a framework for light and shadow to play. Some are developed straight from rough sketches on napkins. The intent was to try and produce works that would look very much like they belonged on canvas and had been painted in oils.
